Resources

Note: There are so many different sites that I've used over time that it is too difficult to list all of them. Here are a few of the more interesting and useful sites:

  • https://www.familysearch.org: Mormon site that contains scanned parish records but this may now be behind a paywall.
  • http://www.banq.qc.ca/accueil: Site that contains historical documents including transcribed notary records from many years ago.
  • http://musee.histoiresk.ca/ is the Virtual Museum of French Saskatchewan (site is in French). It contains information on our family, their friends and the history of the region.
  • https://search.saskarchives.com/ is the link to historical documents managed by the Saskatchewan government. There is a fee and 3-5 weeks required for most documents.
  • This link is to a cultural record of a house in Ste-Anne-de-la-Perade that was reportedly built by Neree Godin, our ancestor (document in French).

Additional notes: Genealogical research has recently become a profitable venture. Sadly, many of the resources that were available in the past for free and were built by volunteers like you and I have been taken over by a few for-profit companies and require payment to access.
